You live here. You know the difference.

You know the difference between the city and the version of the city that gets written about.

You have watched Madrid become one of the most talked-about capitals in Europe and noticed that most of what gets written still somehow misses it. The lists. The hidden gems. The breathless discovery of things that have been here for thirty years. The restaurants a neighbourhood quietly loved until the queue arrived and the thing that made them good quietly left.

We write for people who are past that stage.

The expat who arrived two years ago and now genuinely lives here. The madrileño who thinks in more than one language. The person who moved back after a decade somewhere else and is rediscovering the city with taste and less patience.

We are four people. We live here too.

We go to the things before we write about them. We verify dates and prices because we think your Thursday morning is worth something that goes beyond promotions. We stay selective on purpose, because attention has weight and small places cannot always absorb what happens when they get the wrong kind of it.

We are aware that writing about small places changes them.

We try to include only the ones with the bones to absorb attention without losing what made them worth writing about. We cannot always know and try to be careful. Use these recommendations with some care for what they are.

We do not take money to recommend things.

We do not write about things we would not go to ourselves.

Madrid rewards the people who pay attention to it properly.

That is the version we are trying to describe.
